Irtbaat said, “Who can claim the devil looks like this? Has anyone ever seen Satan?”
Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 19th January, 2018) After criticism on a giant man-animal statue made by a student of Punjab University College of Arts and Design (PUCAD) was placed outside Lahore Museum, the artist has rejected all the objections to the sculpture.
The statue, made by PUCAD student Irtbaat ul Hassan, is a giant one and could afraid anyone if it were an animated character.
Speaking on the criticism, Irtbaat said, “Who can claim the devil looks like this? Has anyone ever seen Satan?”
The student said that he tried to picture barbarism in the sculpture that a human can take this form if he doesn’t correct himself.
Following the outrage, the Lahore museum management had removed the sculpture.
On Thursday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) responded to a petition calling for the statue’s removal.
The LHC had issued notices to the Punjab chief secretary and the Lahore Museum director to submit a reply on why the statue has been placed.
The petition was filed by Ambreen Qureshi, who wants the sculpture removed.
She contended that the sculpture has nothing to do with our culture and scares the children.
The man-animal sculpture is 20 feet high. This is the very first time that such a sculpture is unveiled by the Museum in an outdoor exhibition.
