SU-Radio Pakistan Nexus Old And Intimate: Speakers

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jul, 2017 ) : Terming the cultural and academic linkage of the University of Sindh Jamshoro and Radio Pakistan Hyderabad as exemplary, the speakers have said that Radio Hyderabad has gone through a tremendous evolution in Sindh over the years since independence; whereupon it has always forged good ties with the other national institutions including other universities in the province.

They were addressing at a ceremony held at Radio Pakistan Hyderabad tilted "Joint cooperation between Radio Pakistan Hyderabad & the University of Sindh Jamshoro" in context with the 70th independence day celebrations of the country here on Thursday night, said the Sindh Univrsity spokesman.

Addressing on the occasion, Sindh University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat said Radio Hyderabad had brought to limelight big Names who later became national heroes and served the country by their distinct and exceptional creative flair; worldwide.

They worked hard and diligently to project the name of Pakistan in the "League of Nations" across the globe. He said FM stations had undoubtedly played an instrumental role in the revival of radio in Pakistan, giving the medium a new lease on life.

"I think we should thank the FM transmitter for bringing radio to a new generation of Pakistanis. Before the advent of tv and much before the internet became a reality, radio was the only and most popular electronic medium in the country and indeed the rest of the world," he added.

Dr. Burfat said the news broadcast on Radio Pakistan was only what the government wanted you to hear, being a state-owned enterprise. Otherwise, he said there was an interesting mix of cultural, musical and religious programming on offer at FM and other independent channels.

He added that the languages used on air were top-notch, with absolutely no room for slang or banter used on the street. "In fact it would not be wrong to say that people could improve their pronunciation by listening to Radio Pakistan Hyderabad in both rural and urban Sindh and across the country," said Dr.

Fateh Muhammad Burfat. Station Director, Radio Pakistan Hyderabad Muhammad Ali Banbhan on the occasion said that presenters were thoroughly trained in the art of proper pronunciation, accent, intonation and delivery before being allowed in front of the microphone in the past.

However, he added that with the advent of television, radio began to lose much of its prestige to its younger sibling. Indeed, television was on the verge of eclipsing the radio stars. This would all change in the 1990s, when the young, chirpy and at times brash FM radio entered the market.

He said radio Pakistan Hyderabad always preferred the positive activities of universities, in the province leading example being the University of Sindh Jamshoro which was the oldest varsity in the country.

"Let me say the ties of radio Pakistan Hyderabad and Sindh University Jamshoro have always remained matchless; both the organizations have jointly played a vital role in promoting culture, civilization and education," the station director said.

Chairman Sindhi Language Authority (SLA) Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Memon said that Radio Pakistan Hyderabad was a prime source of getting news and knowledge for people in past but after the launch of television, it began to lose its luster soon after the transmission of frequency wave.

Among others well-known broadcaster Naseer Mirza, Ali Akbar Hingorjo, Musrat Mangi, Muhammad Hussain, Sohail Malik, Muhammad Yaseen Junejo, Haji Muhammad Khokhar, Qadeer Mahesar, Najibullah Shar, President Sindh University Teachers Association (SUTA) Dr.

Azhar Ali Shah, Dr. Rafique Chandio, Dr. Javed Iqbal Chandio, Muhammad Mashooque Siddiqui, Murtaza Siyal, Dr. Tahira Jabeen and Dr. Shumaila also participated in the event. The station director Radio Pakistan Hyderabad Muhammad Ali Banbhan presented a memento shield to the vice chancellor Prof.
