Sub-Committees To Be Finalized On Basis Of Merit Only: Teli

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -1st Oct, 2016 ) : Chairman Businessmen Group and Former President Karachi Chamber Siraj Kassam Teli Saturday said that KCCI's Sub-Committees for 2016-17 would no more be created in the same old manner on the basis of community affiliation but will purely be finalized on basis of merit with a view to improve the performance of these sub-committees.

He was speaking at the 55th Annual General Meeting of Karachi Chamber. "The previous sub-committees were being finalized on the basis of community-affiliation in order to encourage the sense of participation amongst all committees but this year, these Sub-Committees will be allocated in a different way by staying focused on merit only, regardless of community affiliation", he added.

Besides Siraj Teli, the AGM was also attended by Vice Chairmen BMG and Former Presidents KCCI Tahir Khaliq, Haroon Farooki & Anjum Nisar, newly elected President KCCI Shamim Ahmed Firpo, Senior Vice President Asif Nisar, Vice President Muhammad Younus Soomro, Outgoing President KCCI Younus Muhammad Bashir, Senior Vice President KCCI Zia Ahmed Khan, Chairman Special Committee for Small Traders Majeed Memon, Secretary General KCCI S.

Rizvi and KCCI Managing Committee members along with large number of general body members. Siraj Teli further said that merit should be encouraged which would yield positive results and improve the efficiency of Karachi Chamber.

Siraj Teli informed the AGM that a major milestone was achieved this year as Karachi Chamber finally purchased land situated in at Clifton area at an amount of Rs 430 million including taxes from its own resources.

He said that because of the transparent policies being strictly adhered by all office bearers since 1998, the Karachi Chamber succeeded in saving a sum of Rs 500 million till 2015-16, enabling the Chamber to purchase land from its own resources.

"Four architects were currently engaged in finalizing KCCI's building plan which will be completed in the next 5 to 6 months after incorporating all the inputs being given from time to time as per requirements.

Subsequently, this plot will have a state-of-the-art building in the next three to four years and the era of Businessmen Group will always be remembered for this major achievement.
