Super Flood To Hit Pakistan In Upcoming Monsoon Season

Federal Flood Commission Chairman demands Rs 15 billion from the government to implement a model plan to control damages during floods.

LAHORE- (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News- 19^th March 2019) The Water Resources ministry has warned that super flood will hit Pakistan during upcoming monsoon.

During a hearing of the standing committee of the National Assembly, the official of the minister said that heavy rainfall was expected in the coming rainy season which will be resulted in massive flooding across the country.

They called for taking measures to meet emergency situation as the country sustained billions of Dollars losses in previous floods.

Federal Flood Commission Chairman Ahmad Kamal said the commission demanded Rs.

15 billion from the government to implement a model plan.

The climate change impacts, he said, must not be ruled out and there was a need for developing a flood control system. He urged the NA standing committee for extending help to the commission.

Joint Secretary water resources Mehar Ali Shah said no water resources data available in the country.

Nawab Yousuf Talpur chaired the meeting and sought the briefing on the preparation for the flood emergency.
