Supreme Court Expresses Annoyance Over DAG For Appearing Without Preparation Of Case

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2021 ) :The Supreme Court on Thursday expressed annoyance over Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Ayaz Shoukat for appearing before the court without preparation of the case.
A two-member SC bench comprising Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel heard the case filed by Deputy Postmaster General (OP) Central Punjab Circle, Lahore against reinstatement of Multan Postal Department employee.
During the course of proceedings, the Chief Justice grilled the Deputy Attorney General and asked how he appeared before the court without preparing the case. This had happened many times before as he appeared before the court without preparation of the case, he added.
He asked this was how he prepare government cases.
He further said, the court could not announce decision on verbal arguments without mentioning precedents and relevant documents. He observed that law officers deliberately spoil the case.
He asked the DAG who made appointed him a law officer? He should be prosecuted, he added.
He remarked, the court would not allow him to spoil government cases in this way.
He observed that these advocates do great work when private people hire them for their cases.
He asked the DAG to bring relevant documents and legal precedents books to the next hearing.
