Survivor children greatly affected by parent’s murder: Psychologist on Sahiwal incident

The psychologist said that the murder of their parents has become a flashback for the children.

Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 21st January, 2019) Four people including two women were killed during an action by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Sahiwal on Saturday.

The deceased have been identified as 42-year-old Mohammad Khalil, his wife Nabila, 38, their 14-year-old daughter Areeba and Zeeshan Javed.

Their minor son Umair received bullet wounds on his leg whereas his young sister Muneeba was injured by the shattered glass windows of the car.

The two children were being treated at Lahore's General Hospital while four-year-old Hadia was discharged from the hospital and taken home.

The children are still in shock upon seeing their parents die in front of their eyes.

The psychologists said that the murder of their family in front of their eyes is very tragic, adding that it has greatly affected the minds of the children.

Talking to a local tv channel, the psychologist said that the murder of their parents has become a flashback for the children.

Moreover, the children will form a negative image of the police and they will always fear them.

Psychologist Faiza said that the incident will scar the children and will become a permanent part of their memory.

She raised her concern that the children might suffer from depression and panic attacks.

The psychologist added that the government can make a complete strategy for their mental treatment and career counselling, only then will they be able to lead a normal life.
