HYDERABAD, Aug. 28 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Aug, 2017 ) : The speakers at a ceremony on Tuesday encouraged the undergraduate students and scientific article writers for contributing more to the community by writing research based papers for the newly launched "Youth, Science and Technology Magazine".

Highlighting the importance of providing cutting-edge knowledge and informative things to the scholars and new generation they underscored the need for sustainable growth of the University of Sindh, focused on knowledge based activities, manifested through interactive education cum research programmes.

Addressing the recognition ceremony arranged by the Sindh University Teachers' Association (SUTA) in honor of the Editor and Authors of newly launched "Youth, Science and Technology Magazine" at the Teachers' Club, University of Sindh Jamshoro, the speakers said that the editor of the magazine and researcher Mehar Ali Kazi along with his 30 students of B.S.

Biochemistry had done a wonderful job by bringing out a research based magazine. The President SUTA Dr. Azhar Ali Shah termed the magazine as a milestone as well as significant for the undergraduate students and researchers equally and said that the students under the supervision of able leadership of Mehar Ali Kazi contributed informative articles for the magazine which he said were worth reading.

"These articles have received great accolades and mark of respect within academic circles across the Sindh province and Pakistan, We congratulate the entire team led by Kazi who burnt midnight oil to bring out an awe-inspiring publication", he maintained.

He said that though the province was largely missing the real culture of education and research but, he expressed his satisfaction that Sindh University was rapidly heading to the path of development and progress under the dynamic leadership of the vice chancellor Prof.

Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat. Dr. Shah further said that they were transforming the role of teachers' association from being just right based organization into a professional academic body dedicated for the cause of improvement in quality education and research on the campus by arranging this "recognition ceremony" in a bid to admire the academic achievement of the students and faculty.

The former acting vice chancellor currently working as director of SU's Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT) Prof. Dr. Imdad Ali Ismaili called for turning postgraduate institutions into quality and relevant research based centres of real knowledge and said that the fields of education and research at the University of Sindh were promoting under the able leadership of SU VC Dr.

Burfat, despite the fact that the overall education situation was suffering in Pakistan due to ill-planning. Elaborating his stance, he referred to the fact that more PhDs could be found in one single department of a university while a mere single or two in another making the scenario difficult on retirement of the single and only duly qualified soul.

"Once somebody retires there must be at least an equally qualified or preferably more qualified and updated teachers cum researchers to guide the students and Alhamdolillah! Sindh University has over 150 foreign PhDs in various departments.

This makes SU a unique institute of higher learning than other varsities in Sindh, even in Pakistan," he said. Emphasizing upon the quality of research programmes, Dr Ismaili mentioned that as per the HEC initiatives PhD thesis of candidates registered with the SU were sent for evaluation to researchers and scholars based in institutions of repute in countries other than Pakistan, mainly European and American.

He felicitated the entire team for their untiring efforts to bring out a beyond belief magazine coupled with related images and graphics. Earlier, the editor of magazine Mehar Ali Kazi in his address citing the occasion historic said the SUTA president, joint secretary, other office-bearers and the teachers' community at Sindh University in whole had a vision to develop research culture on the campus in order to generate new avenues of knowledge, heights of wisdom and elevation of brainpower.

He said that he along with his team would try his best to convert the magazine named Youth, Science and Technology into research journal as per directives of the Vice Chancellor Dr. Burfat and will bring it out forthwith so that the young students might be provided with an opportunity to get their research work published in the journal.
