Syed Arshad Hasan Elected Deputy Mayor Karachi

Muttahid Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan backed candidate Syed Arshad Hasan elected as a deputy mayor Karachi, who bagged 194 votes in the by-election of deputy mayor Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) held at KMC head office on Thursday wherein 281 votes were cast out of total 300
Karamullah Waqasi - the candidate of Pakistan People's Party secured second position by getting 78 votes while nine votes were rejected and the polling ratio was 93.7 percent, this was announced by District Returning Officer Deputy Commissioner South Salahuddin on Thursday.
The polling continued from 9 a.m to 5p.m in the council hall of KMC building.
District Returning Officer South Salahuddin, Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Syed Saif-ur-Rehman, Assistant Commissioner Garden Fazal-e-Rabbi and other administrative personalities monitored the proceedings throughout the election process.
The first vote casted by Aman Afridi of PML-N and last by Khurram Farhan of MQM. Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhter also casted his vote at around 2:45pm.
Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani was also present on this occasion.
Earlier, Mayor Karachi visited both election camps and met with the candidates and talked to the People's party leader Najmi Alam and Karamullah Waqasi about election arrangements.
Mohammad Nauman of Baldia UC-35 and Habib of district East UC-14 came to the KMC building handcuffed to cast their votes.
MQM -Pakistan Rabita committee members and convener Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui deputy convener Aamir Khan, Khuwaja Izhar, Kanwar Naveed Jamil, Amin ul Haq, Faisal Sabzwari, Arshad Sabzwari, Shaikh Salahuddin, Shakir Ali, Rehan Hashmi, chairman west Izhar Ahmed and chairman east Moeed Anwer and Chairman Korangi and others also visited the election camp.
