HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2018 ) :A persons could achieve physical and spiritual capabilities by maintaining Salat and Taraweeh prayers and by continuing the practice whole of life the performer could easily avert sins and negative thoughts.

Eminent educationist and scholar Madam Zakia Shah was confident that Taraweeh prayers help consuming extra calories, improve flexibility, maintain coordination, reduce stress-related autonomic responses in healthy persons and relieve anxiety and depression.

Talking to APP here on Tuesday, Madam Zakia Shah said that after Iftar, the level of blood glucose continues to rise from the food ingested and just before the Iftar meals, the blood glucose and insulin levels are at their lowest level.She said that the blood sugar reaches high levels in an hour or two and the benefits of Taraweeh prayers come into effect.

The circulating glucose is metabolized into carbon dioxide and water during Taraweeh prayers, she informed. Madam Shah elaborated that during the Taraweeh prayers, systolic blood pressure may raise a little and the diastolic blood pressure remains unchanged or even falls.

However, after completion of Taraweeh prayers, the blood pressure may drop to just below normal levels, which is good indication for the health of worshippers, she added.

She said that Taraweeh prayers can improve physical strength and joint stability and reduce the risk of injury to the tendons and connective tissues.She informed that prayers also help controlling over body weight and expend calories without proportionate increase in appetite.

She said that a combination of moderate dietary restriction, both at the Iftar and Sehri meals, accompanied by the Taraweeh prayers should achieve weight reduction and this will also reduce both fat and body weight.

However, fat-free weight will remain constant or may even increase slightly, she added. She said that all these are combined in the Taraweeh prayer, which is an ideal condition for "relaxation response." It combines repeated muscular activity with repetition of Salat, chanting of words of glorification of Allah and of supplications, she added.

Scholar Madam Zakia Shah said that evidence is also accumulating that those who perform regular Salat and Taraweeh along with voluntary prayers can conserve and actually retard the loss of bone mass in the elderly thus staving off the ravages of osteoporosis that afflicts both men and women.
