ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jul, 2025) In an effort to promote the economic development of Afghan refugees residing in the region, the Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) organized the third community dialogue session at Government High school Jhangi, Abbottabad on Saturday.
The session, part of an ongoing initiative to empower Afghan refugees through inclusive community engagement, brought together various stakeholders to discuss strategies, challenges, and opportunities for improving economic conditions for the refugee population.
On the special directives of Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance and Planning), Ms. Azka Fatima, attended the event as the chief guest. In her remarks, she emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between the government, civil society, and community representatives in facilitating sustainable livelihoods for refugees.
A large number of participants, including officials from the Education Department, members of the Parent-Teacher Council (PTC), district administration officers, and local community members, actively took part in the session. The attendees shared insights and suggestions on how to strengthen the integration of refugees into local economic frameworks through education, skill development, and small enterprise support.
The dialogue served as a platform to bridge communication gaps and foster mutual understanding between Afghan refugees and host communities, while also helping authorities better understand the ground realities and formulate responsive policies.
Organizers expressed gratitude to the district administration for its support and reaffirmed SRSP’s commitment to continuing such engagements to build resilient and self-reliant refugee communities.
