Three-day Moot On Disaster Management Begins

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jun, 2018 ) :A three-day international conference on "Capitalizing on Pakistan's Experience in Handling Disasters, Creating Synergies among Global Frameworks-Lessons Learnt and the Way Forward" stated here Wednesday.
The three-day moot has been organized by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) with an aim to share experiences in handling the disasters and devise a comprehensive policy framework to cope with any calamities in future.
The first day of the conference would focus on Pakistan's experience in managing mega disasters and the lessons learnt by the authority in the calamities faced by the country.
In his welcome remarks the chairman NDMA, Lieutenant General Omar Mahmood Hayat expressed his gratitude to the foreign envoys for participating in the moot.
He said that the world had undergone significant changes in the current decade while Pakistan was among one of those countries who created long-term disaster management plan back in 2013.
He emphasized that the nation had learnt from its experiences of serious earth disasters and conflicts and was striving to overcome the challenges faced by the country.
The experts including local and regional countries while addressing the conference shared their experiences and mechanism followed during various natural disasters especially during the 2005 earthquake and Super Flood 2010.
