Three Day Workshop On Food And Bio-Processing Began At Mehran University

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -22nd Sep,2016) : The Vice Chancellor Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro has underlined the need of effective collaboration between higher learning institutions and industry in order to achieve maximum benefits in the industrial sector of the country.
The lack of collaboration between the learning institutions and the industry at present, the industrial sector could not get such benefits which could be achieved from the experts and academicians, the Vice Chancellor remarked while speaking as chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of three day workshop on Food and Bio-Processing organised by the Department of Chemical Engineering of Mehran University at Jamshoro on Thursday.
He said that Mehran University is producing brands to share its pool for the betterment of the country by improving the industrial sectors. Numbers of graduates of Mehran University are playing important role in various departments and organizations like P.P.L., he said and added that the Department of Chemical has important role in the industry and food processing all over the world but unfortunately the researchers of the country could not achieve major developments in this field.
In order to bridge the gap between the higher learning institutions and the industry in different fields particularly in chemical industry, the Vice Chancellor informed that technical workshops are being arranged in the university to find new vistas for rapid development of industrial sector.
The Commissioner Mirpurkhas Eng: Shafiq Ahmed Mahesar while speaking on the occasion appreciated the role of Mehran University for providing research atmosphere to make the graduates able in meeting out the challenges of the modern world.
He said that there is need of technology experts which could help the industrial units for preserving the food and dairy products, he said that huge quantity of milk is going to waste because of not unit for its processing and preservation.
A huge amount could be earned by introducing advanced technologies in bio-processing, he said and added that it would definitely bring a positive change in the socio - economic condition of the poor people of the country.
The Director Operation Habib Sugar Mill Rafique Ahmed Mangi said that industrial sector is facing major issue in exporting of their products which could be resolve through the help of academic experts and chemical graduates by introducing advanced technologies in this sector.
He appreciated the efforts of the management of Mehran University and hoped that such technical workshops would bridge the gap between the higher learning institutions and industrial sector of the country.
The Dean Faculty of Engineering Dr, Hafeez-ur-Rehman Memon and Chairman Department of Chemical Engineering Dr. Farman Shah while speaking on the occasion highlighted the importance of organizing the technical workshop. APP/jvd/abd/ff
