Training on Health Risk Assessment

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Oct, 2018 ) :World Health Organization (WHO) Pakistan Team and Center for Environmental Health Action (CEHA) in collaboration with Environment Protection Department Punjab organized a three day Provincial Training on Health Risk Assessment using the recently developed AirQ+ Tool for the first time in Punjab from October 15 to 17, 2018 in the Committee Room of EPD, Punjab.

Sajjad Additional Secretary EPD Punjab, inaugurated the training session by addressing the challenges faced by the government of Punjab due to air pollution and welcomed the participants from Environment Protection Agency, Health Department, WHO. Ms. Syeda Malika, Director General, EPA Punjab, Dr. Nusrat Naz, Director EDH, EPA Punjab were official representative from EPA Punjab while Mr. Michael Krzyzanowsku and Mr. Mazen Malkavi, were Lead Trainers from WHO.

The agenda of the training was to train the participants regarding AirQ+software developed by WHO Team to analyze short term/long term health effects due to air pollution exposure.

On first day, Mr. Michael Krzyzanowsku briefed the participants regarding health effects of air pollution, Air Quality monitoring system and data acquisition, global burden of disease due to air pollution and basics of health risk assessment.

On second day of the training, the participants were introduced to basics of AIRQ+ software, its demonstration and scope of application in the field.

On the third day, the participants received hands on exercises on AIRQ+ software for short term/ long term health effects due to air pollution exposure.

The participants also visited the Air Pointer installed by EPA Punjab.
