Transgender Involved In Supplying Drugs To Educational Institutes

A transgender person was arrested outside one educational institute for attempting to supply drugs to the students.
Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 12th January, 2018) Some transgender have been supplying drugs at educational institutes in the country, reports revealed on Saturday.
The Anti-Narcotics Forces (ANF) has expedited the action around the educational institutes.
A transgender person was arrested outside one educational institute for attempting to supply drugs to the students.
The drug peddlers have reportedly started using the transgender to supply drugs at educational institutes.
Media reports said that some transgender persons have been arrested in the ANF crackdown in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Gujranwala.
The government is committed to eradicate the issue of drug abuse in educational institutes and academia and media are key stakeholders who can play effective role in curbing the issue.
More than two percent of the students are regular drug users in educational institutions, according to the findings of the survey by Department of Sociology, QAU.
The abuse of drugs is linked to numerous social problems including health issues, terrorism, suicide and damage the fabric of society. Other key factors that contribute to drug use are peer pressure, self-medication, loneliness, reaction, depression, feel good attitude, stress and low self-esteem.
The issue of drug abuse can be curtailed and focused on the role of community and youth while education is the key to deal with the issue.
