Two bills passed, 15 reports presented in Senate

He Senate Wednesday passed two bills, one each of the government and private members, as 15 reports were presented in the House.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 07th Mar, 2018 ) :The Senate Wednesday passed two bills, one each of the government and private members, as 15 reports were presented in the House. Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed moved the Corporate Rehabilitation Bill, 2018, which was adopted by the House.

The bill aims to provide for rehabilitation and re-organization of distressed corporate entities. The House also passed the private members' bill � the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2017, which was jointly sponsored by Karim Ahmed Khawaja, Rubina Khalid, Rubina Irfan, Samina Saeed and Kasloom Perveen.

The bill moved by Senator Karim Ahmed Khawaja in House, aims to provide for protection, relief and rehabilitation of rights of the transgender persons and ensure their welfare. Meanwhile, 15 reports of various standing committees were presented in the House.

Under Rule 166 (7), a member of the Standing Committee on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan presented the report of the committee on the proposed Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) of the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan for the financial year 2018-19.

Chairman, Special Committee to examine overall working of the Sports Federations in Pakistan, Dr. Ashok Kumar presented the committee's report on the matter of overall working of the sports federations in the country.

Chairman of Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges Dr Jehanzeb Jamaldini presented reports on the breach of privilege of the House by the Secretary Cabinet , Legal consultant Petroleum Division, non-implementation of the recommendations of sub-committee on the Performance of PIA, non-provision of reports by the PIA management to the Senate Special Committee on the Performance of PIA and non-provision of documents relating to development work carried out in NA-21 since 2013 by Pak-PWD, Hazara Division.

On behalf of the Chairman, Standing Committee on National Health Services, a member of the committee Ghous Muhammad Niazi presented the committee's report for the period from June 2, 2015 to February 9, 2018.

Chairman of Standing Committee on Communications Muhammad Daud Khan Achakzai Advocate presented the report of the committee on the point of public importance raised by Senator Mukhtiar Ahmed Dhamrah Aajiz regarding removal of boards of important historical places during the construction of Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway (M-9).

He also presented the committee's report on a starred question regarding the details of the project for the construction of Bajour (Khar)-Jandola-Zhob Road. On behalf of Chairman Standing Committee on Interior, a member of the committee Tahir Hussain Mashhadi presented the reports of the committee on the Islamabad Capital Territory Prohibition of Interest on Private Loans Bill, 2017, the Criminal Laws (Amendment) (Protection of Rights of Transgender Persons) Bill, 2017, the Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2017 and on a matter raised in the Senate regarding "Gharang Check Post of FC in Balochistan due to which long queues of vehicles is a daily routine causing great problems to the people of the area.

Under Rule 172E (3), Chairman of the Committee on Delegated Legislation Senator Taj Haider presented eighth quarterly report of the committee. Moved by PML-N Senator Mohsin Leghari, the House adopted reports of Standing Committee on Finance under Rule 196 (1) which were regarding issuance of SRO No.

47(I)/2018 on January 23, 2018 exempting one particular company from payment of Sales Tax and Federal Excise Duty and promotion policy 2016-17 of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP).
