Unique 'PechaKucha' nights to entertain Islamabadian on April 29

Kuch Khaas- the Center for Arts, Culture and Dialogue would organize a very unique "PechaKucha" Nights Islamabad with not only presentations by some of the most prominent performers of Pakistan, but also featuring their dance performances from April 29

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2018 ) :Kuch Khaas- the Center for Arts, Culture and Dialogue would organize a very unique "PechaKucha" Nights Islamabad with not only presentations by some of the most prominent performers of Pakistan, but also featuring their dance performances from April 29.

The event is being organized in connection with International Dance Day. Renowned artists including Indu Mitha, Suhaee Abro, Wahab Shah, Rafia Ban, Asfandyar Anis Khattak, Sundus Jamil and Gillian Rhodes share their experiences and showcase their art.

Asfandyar Anis Khattak is a folk and fusion dancer who has performed on multiple platforms throughout Pakistan. Suhaee Abro began her training in classical dance at the age of seven from the respected classical dancer, Sheema Kermani.

She choreographed many of her dance pieces and dance productions; mostly based on various literary pieces. Next Sundus Jamil, a fitness instructor who uses the medium of dance to keep her clients in shape! and have fun while doing it.

Indu Mitha is an exponent of�Bharatnatyam�and one of only two in the nation (the other being�Sheema Kirmani). [She is also a faculty member at the Rawalpindi campus of the National College of the Arts.

An official fo Kuch Khas told APP that dance has been a part of our culture and the culture of the Indus region since prehistoric times. The statue of�Dancing Girl�discovered from Mohenjodaro is a testament to how, even 5000 years ago, our society was enamored by the art of dance.

He said that the young artists of today will be the torch bearers of cultural and creative activities of Pakistan tomorrow, adding that their beliefs, practices and manifestos will shape the spirit of our time and future of our upcoming generation.

"It is important to create visibility and give voice to the creative individuals and promote their practices emotionally and intellectually," he said. He said that the art and design community in Islamabad is isolated from the rest of the country and a lot of individuals rely on resources, support and connections in other cities to sustain their practices.

"We want to create means to bring these young creatives together to introduce, support and network with each other over an evening of Pecha Kucha style sharing of their ideologies and practices," he added.

The official of Kuch Khas further said that the Pecha Kucha style of presentation has been devised in Tokyo and has been used across the international cities of the world by designers and creatives to showcase projects and share ideas.

The Pecha Kucha style is a system of building a presentation of 20 slides for 20 secs each (20 X 20). Each presenter, hence, gets a total of 6.6 mins to share their idea and introduce their work. We will have a min of 6 and a max of 8 people presenting their Pecha Kuchas over an evening of 1-2 hours on a regular basis.
