ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th august,2016) : The United Nations on Tuesday strongly condemned the killing of the innocent people in bomb blast at civil hospital Quetta. In a statement, the United Nations System in Pakistan said that "the United Nations stand side by side with the people of Pakistan in mourning the victims of the callous double attack on the President of the Baluchistan Bar Association and on the people who wanted to mourn his death at a public hospital in Quetta, many of them lawyers and journalists,". "We condemn in the strongest terms this attack on the justice system and on the freedom of expression in Pakistan, which are both essential elements of a free, democratic and prosperous society," the statement said.
The United Nations in Pakistan furthermore stress that attacks on hospitals are strictly prohibited under international humanitarian law.
All medical workers, clinics and hospitals must be respected and protected in all circumstances. Our thoughts are with the many victims of this cowardly and inhumane act and with their families.
