UoS Organizes Microsoft Office Specialist Certification Session

SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Oct, 2018 ) ::The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology (CS&IT) UoS and the University data center organized an awareness session titled "Microsoft Office Specialist Certification".
The awareness session was organized to highlight the microsoft Office proficiency among students and staff for booming classroom progression and course effectiveness.
The Microsoft Certification Program was a joint venture of the Higher education Commission (HEC) Pakistan and Microsoft & TEC Education Foundation. The session was launched to encourage the faculty, staff and students to become Microsoft Office Specialist Certified, said a press release issued here Thursday.
Addressing the session, Senator Rukhsana Zuberi said that technical skills are a great way for graduates to give themselves the competitive edge over other candidates.
She stated that students having technical skills are often more confident and better at multitasking in a challenging and complex role while applying to certain industries than those who don't.
She further added that Microsoft Office Specialist Certification program will hopefully help reduce 50% unemployment by providing technical and professional skills.
The session provided understanding about operating MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point, Access, Outlook, One Note and Share Point.
The session also informed participants to contact University Data Center for becoming a member of this program.
Technical Manager of Tech Organization Muhammad Abbas said that in the worldwide job market, Microsoft Office specialist are the Primary tool companies use to validate the proficiency of their employees in the latest productivity tools and technology.
More than 700 exams had been held under the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification Program enabling students to benefit from million of employment opportunities in the field of computer programming, system analysis, IT analysis, network administration, database administration and many more, he added.
The distinguish guests also met the Vice Chancellor Sargodha University, Dr Ishtiaq Ahmad and other faculty members of the University while briefed them about the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification Program which normally costs around $100 for each module (Office, Power Point and Excel).
The HEC in collaboration with Microsoft and TEC Foundation is offering all students, faculty and staff of the University to avail the opportunity of appearing in this exam free of cost.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of HEC and TEC Foundation for the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification program for launching this program at the University.
The session was attended by Senator Rukhsana Zuberi, President of TEC Education Foundation and former chairperson Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Muhammad Abbas, Technical Manager of Tech Organization, Saad Razzaq, In-charge CS&IT Department Sargodha University, Zahid Anwar, IT Manager of the University and a number of students and staffers of the University.
