Volunteers Day-2018 Observed With Renewed Pledge

The representative of United Nations to Pakistan and the government observed Volunteers Day 2018 with Pakistani volunteers on Thursday, says an official handout issued by AJK government here Thursday evening.
MIRPUR (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Dec, 2018 ) :The representative of United Nations to Pakistan and the government observed Volunteers Day 2018 with Pakistani volunteers on Thursday, says an official handout issued by AJK government here Thursday evening.
The Federal minister for Meteorological Changes Zartaj Gul observed the day with dozens of Pakistani workers and volunteers in a function that was organized by Youth Forum for Kashmir (YFK) on Thursday, it said.
Apart from working for children and women rights, eradication of poverty, environment and refugees' problem YFK also works for peace and conflict resolution in South Asia.
On this occasion Director Information Center of United Nations read out the message of UN Secretary General for International Volunteers Day.
"There are around 1 billion volunteers who are capable of giving their time, expertise and passion to make the world a better place. I pay thanks to all those volunteers for their hard work and taking all along them" said the message.
The UN representative to Pakistan thanked the volunteers for their social works to make Pakistan and the world a better place. She said she defeated the experienced politicians for her victory in the elections. "Its credit goes to the volunteers working with her. She did not have to spend much money rather she won elections through the tiring efforts of her volunteers" she acknowledged.
Speaking on the occasion Minister Zartaj Gul said she started her career as a volunteer. "I am from Pakhtoon tribe and speak English and urdu well. I worked as volunteer in Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital first" she said. She was of the view that if you are weak and you help others, that gives you a confidence and strengthens you inside. She said helping suffering humanity gives you mental peace, according to the handout.
She said she prepared many volunteers in her ten year's political struggle who helped her win the general elections. She gave all credit of her success in politics to her volunteers.
