Voters throng to polling stations in KP to cast their vote in favour of MNAs

Tribal voters in large number thronged to polling stations in Khyber tribal district for exercising their right of franchise in favour of their chosen candidates amid tight security arrangements by security forces.

After Zuhar prayer, the voters thronged to different polling stations at tehsils Bara, Landi Kotal, Jamrud and Torkum of Khyber tribal district to elect two MNAs for NA 43 and NA-44 Khyber Constituencies where they are exercising right of votes in a safe and secure environment.

An APP team during visit to different polling stations in Bara, Landi Kotal, Ali Masjid, Torkhum and Jamrud of NA-43 and NA-44 constituencies observed great enthusiasm among tribal voters especially young voters.

Long queues of voters properly lined up by law enforcers were seen after Zuhar prayer in these polling stations before casting their votes to avoid mismanagement and waste of time.

The polling process began at 8am and will continue till 6pm without break. Voters inside polling stations would be allowed to cast votes in favour of their choice candidates.

The supporters of candidates hired private vehicles on rent to help bring senior citizens, women and physically challenged voters to polling stations to cast their votes. However some of the senior voters complained about non-availability of transport facility from supporters of candidates for home return after casting of their votes.

The political agents and supporters of candidates have established private polling booth outside of premises of polling stations with hoisting of political party flags for guidance and assistance of young and female voters The fate of18 candidates contesting for NA-43 tribal area-IV including former Federal Minister Noorul Haq Qadri (PTI), Hazrat Wali (PPPP), Doulat Shah (Pakistan Justice and Democratic Party), Sardar Azam (PMLN), Saida Jan (ANP), Atiqullah (JUI-S), Muhammad Ejaz (MMA), independents Ahsanullah, Zarnoor Afridi, Saidgha Jan, Shahzeb, Shakeel Afridi, Shermat Khan, Abdul Raza Shinwari, Abdul Nawaz, Mohibullah Nawabzada Muhammad Shah and former MNA, Shah Geegul Afridi would be decided by these voters today.

Top contenders for this constituency are former Federal Minister Noorul Haq Qadri and former MNA Shah Geegul Afridi on this constituency. However, it would be clear from election results tonight that who would wear crown of this constituency of Khyber district.

Similarly, the fate of 26 candidates contesting for NA-44 Khyber would also be decided by tribal voters today. The polling process is continued peacefully in NA-44 and will continue till 6pm without any break.

Great rush of voters was being witnessed in polling stations setup at Bara, Qambar Khel, Akakhel and Kokikhel.

Meanwhile, polling process is also peacefully continued in tribal districts of Bajaur, Mohmand, Orakzai, Kurram, North Waziristan and South Waiziristan Agency after six hours of voting amid tight security arrangements. The polling commenced in these tribal districts at 8am and will continue till 6pm without any break.

The counting of ballot papers will commence soon after expiry of the deadline. It merits to mention here that tribal voters would elect 12 MNAs from these tribal districts Wednesday for next five years 2018-23.
