
Weekly Inflation Goes Down By 0.39 Percent

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th August, 2016) : The weekly inflation for the week ended on August 4, for the combined income group witnessed a decrease of 0.39 percent as compared to the previous week. The Sensitive price Indicator (SPI) for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 218.91 points against 219.77 points registered in the previous week, according to data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) here on Friday. As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for the combined group in the week under review increased by 1.59 percent. The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2007 2008=100, covering 17 urban centers and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined. Meanwhile, the SPI for the lowest income group up to Rs 8000 however, decreased by 0.33 percent as it went down from 211.09 points in the previous week to 210.40 points in the week under review. As compared to the last week, the SPI for the income groups from Rs 8001 to Rs 12,000, Rs 12,001 to 18,000, Rs 18,001 to Rs 35,000 and above Rs 35000 decreased by 0.35 per cent, 0.38 per cent, 0.40 percent and 0.
41 percent respectively. During the week under review average prices of 11 items registered decrease, while that of 13 items increase with the remaining 29 items' prices unchanged. The items which registered decrease in their prices during the week under review included tomatoes, bananas, chicken (farm), onions, LPG Cylinder, pulse moong (washed), pulse mash (washed), pulse masoor (washed), vegetable ghee (pouch), potatoes and red chilly. The items which recorded increase in their average prices included gur, sugar, garlic, rice (irri-6), eggs hen (farm), rice (basmati), milk fresh, mutton, beef, pulse gram (washed), wheat flour (bag), curd and wheat. The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review included bread plain, milk (powder), mustard oil, vegetable ghee (tin), salt powder, tea, cooked beef, cooked daal, tea prepared cup, cooked beef, cigarettes, long cloth, shirting, lawn, georgette, gents sandal, gents spang, ladies sandal, electricity charges, gas charges, kerosene oil, fire wood, electric bulb, washing soap, match box, petrol supper, hi-speed diesel, telephone local calls and bath soap.
