Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 24th February, 2019) Former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has finally broken his silence about joining politics.
Speaking at an event, the former CJP said that he has no plans of joining politics.
“I promise my loved ones that I have no plans to join politics,” he said.
Former CJP Nisar went on to say that he has only studied politics and that he is not going to join politics.
He said that four of us judges had thought of constructing the dams. We had only donated for the construction of dams.
The government will apprise the Supreme Court about using the money collected through dams fund, he said.
About 18th amendment, the former CJP said that it was prepared behind closed doors and it never came under discussion in the Parliament.
He said that the ongoing arguments over 18th amendment are constitutional.
Earlier, while responding to a question at Lahore Literary Festival, the former CJP had said that the dam fund was mainly aimed at spreading awareness.
Nisar said that people were excited when he proposed the idea of the dam fund at a conference.
“People have been coming to me to donate their entire lives’ pension. Small children came to me. There was an enthusiasm. I’m sure it will continue,” he added.
The former CJP had established a Supreme Court of Pakistan Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Dams Fund on July 10, 2018 to raise funds for the construction of Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Dams.
