Women Facing Problems Due To Lack Of Modest Transport In Twin Cities

Women working in federal capital are facing problems due to lack of modest transport system at various routes in the metropolise.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Nov, 2018 ) :Women working in Federal capital are facing problems due to lack of modest transport system at various routes in the metropolise.
The working women and house wives are decrying alike as a very few enjoy office transport or private conveyance facility. However, the rest have to rely on public transport, which is neither convenient and at times inaccessible nor affordable.
According to them, the authorities concerned should immediately start modest transport service for the considering their genuine demand.
A commuter Faiza Anjum said, as there was no comfortable, safe and affordable transportation facilities for women, which caused great problems for them.
She said that as she was government employee so its hard for her to spend 10 thousand rupees monthly on taxi's charges due to lack of local transport.
Another commuter Hina Arshad said for many women in the country, lack of safe and affordable transport services means educational and employment aspirations remain unfulfilled.
She said that there were only two seats for women in local transport vehicle, which does not cater their needs. She further said that some time they have to bear indifferent behaviour of conductors, but remained silent as they have to reach at their destinations in time.
Therefore, they demanded of the authorities concerned to pay heed to their long standing issue of safer transport for women commuters of twin cities.
When contacted to senior official of National Transport Research Centre, Miss Fauzia Sultana said that they have prepared long, medium and short term strategy to resolve public transport issue of women, there is also a plan to start special vehicle for women to resolve this issue, she said.
