Representatives of women rights' activists on Monday urged for creating awareness among the mosses about gender discrimination and protecting the rights of women in the country.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Dec, 2018 ) :Representatives of women rights' activists on Monday urged for creating awareness among the mosses about gender discrimination and protecting the rights of women in the country.

Expressing the views in connection with Human Rights Day, they said that the protection of women rights and gender equality were key components of human rights and without consideration of these aspects, the concept of human rights is incomplete.

They were of view that half of the populations was based on women folk which need equality in all sphere of life to have their equivalent or maximum participation in society.

Madiha Khan, a women right activist said that it was very optimistic that women in country can be seen in every sphere of life, but millions of women were still living a very tough life without knowing about or exercising their rights.

She said that females in the rural areas were still deprived of basic education facilities and they were not aware of even their basic rights.

"There is no one to tell them about their rights or to encourage them to come forward for raising voices of their equal rights", said Shafqat Jabeen, a representative of civil society organization.

She said, "For betterment of our country we must ensure equal rights to every female in the society whether in rural or urban area." She said that teaching of islam ensured equal rights to women.

"Our constitution fully protects the rights of women and our policy makers must realize the importance of implementation of concerned clauses of constitution in true spirit," another representative of women rights group, Aasia Imam said.

She said that women must also realize their basic rights and play their proactive role in the society for creating awareness about protection of basic rights to women.
