Women's Active Participation In By-election Shows Their Commitment: Kanwal Shauzab

Parliamentary Secretary for Planning, Development and Reform Kanwal Shauzab on Thursday said that women's active participation in the by-election shows their commitment towards empowerment.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Oct, 2018 ) :Parliamentary Secretary for Planning, Development and Reform Kanwal Shauzab on Thursday said that women's active participation in the by-election shows their commitment towards empowerment. Talking to APP, she said that women are aware of the importance of active participation in all spheres of life, adding that casting a vote is very important for women to show their strength. She said that women have become more aware of their participation in all such positive activities which will bring progress and prosperity in their life. She believed that people have less interest in by- elections but now women have turned the tide in 35 Constituencies of National and Provincial Assembly and polled votes enthusiastically.

"Women turnout was more than 10 percent except of two constituencies, which shows their interest towards important national obligation," she added. She said that women's participation was up to the expectations in some constituencies while in few it was less and low turnout can be attributed to lack of interest women showed in some constituencies and hurdles they faced less.

Talking on equal chances, she added that the best form of democracy is when men and women have equal opportunities in life and gender equality in a political system, despite women comprising more than half of country's population they continued being obsessed.

She said there is dire need of women participation in all important forum so that they can be compete men in all fields.
