Women's Week For Change Thru Gender Parity, Boldness

LAHORE, Mar 6 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 06th Mar, 2017 ) : Gender parity, women emancipation, women empowerment and women rights are at the heart of all activities planned in the provincial metropolis to mark the International Women's Day (IWD) 2017 to be observed on March 8 (Wednesday) globally.
The campaign theme for the International Women's Day 2017 is "Be Bold for Change" and various ceremonies will be held to commemorate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women in the country.
The Punjab government had declared to observe the 2nd week of March as "Women's Week" to celebrate the IWD 2017 in a befitting manner and acknowledge the role of women in different areas of life.
The Government College University (GCU) Lahore launched the Women's Week celebrations with a fine arts exhibition on the theme "Unveiling Her" where 36 paintings, posters, sketches and photographs by the students of National College of Arts (NCA), Beaconhouse National University (BNU), Kinnaird College and GCU were put on display.
The art works focused on the women rights, women emancipation and workplace harassment issues. The GCU would also hold a panel discussion on the theme "Her Struggle Stays" at the Bokahri Auditorium during the week.
Provincial Ministers Hameeda Waheed ud Din and Ayesha Ghous Pasha and other parliamentarians have been role model women in the province on the women empowerment in the province.
