A consultative workshop on Gender Development and Social Protection held here Wednesday to solicit input from public and private sector institutions, stakeholders including women rights organizations and institutions working for gender equality

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Apr, 2019 ) :A consultative workshop on Gender Development and Social Protection held here Wednesday to solicit input from public and private sector institutions, stakeholders including women rights organizations and institutions working for gender equality.

The workshop was organized by Strategic Support Unit of Social Welfare Department in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) aiming at issues of gender equity, equality and rights of women at the center of the ten-year development plan.

The event was attended by Ajmal Wazir, Advisor to Chief Minister for merged areas, Rakshanda Naz Provincial Ombudsperson, Mr Altaf Secretary Planning and Development Department, Muhammad Idress Marwat Secretary Social Welfare, large number of government officials from different departments including health, education, housing, social welfare, P&D, excise and taxation, labour, Member of Provincial Assembly, Women Caucus members, civil society members, academia, youth etc.

Ajmal Wazir while speaking on the occasion said that today's event is the culmination of governments' efforts to involve our womenfolk to consolidate the prospective planning process further.

He asked participants for their valuable foresight and suggestions which will help place issues of gender equity, equality and rights of women at the center of the ten-year development plan. A plan that is truly representative of the collective wishes and aspirations of the people of newly merged districts.

Secretary Planning and Development Department Mr Altaf while addressing the participants shared that focus of this initiative was to benefit from the planning perspective of government departments. The consultations helped harness the collective wisdom, experience and input of more than 1500 government officials.
