ISLAMABAD, Feb 7 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 07th Feb, 2017 ) : The World Radio Day will be observed on 13 February (Monday) to acknowledge the role of Radio in awareness and ameliorating life of the masses.
According to report aired by a private news channel said , UNESCO invites all radio stations and supporting organisations to join us for World Radio Day 2017, a chance to celebrate radio and how it helps shape our lives.
Radio is still the most dynamic, reactive and engaging medium there is, adapting to 21st century changes and offering new ways to interact and participate. Where social media and audience fragmentation can put us in media bubbles of like-minded people.
Radio is uniquely positioned to bring communities together and foster positive dialogue for change. By listening to its audiences and responding to their needs, radio provides the diversity of views and voices needed to address the challenges we all face.
The day was proclaimed by the United Nations Assembly in 2011, the theme for its 2017 edition is "Radio is You", a call for greater participation of audiences and communities in the policy and planning of radio broadcasting.
All radio stations, regulatory bodies and related organisations invited to plan special events or broadcasts to celebrate how radio shapes our lives. "Radio also helps to create a sense of community through the dissemination of information.
It supports communities in breaking out of their isolation in situations of armed conflict, political tension and humanitarian hardship. Radio can also help to rebuild social links in refugee communities and UNESCO contributes here to disseminating education, culture and information, by backing programmes created and hosted by young people." Radio supports communities in breaking out of their isolation in situations of armed conflict, political tension and humanitarian hardship.
