ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jul, 2025) Women University Mardan (WUM) and the Tamkin Foundation Morocco held a high-level virtual meeting to discuss institutional collaboration for empowering women through higher education, research and development initiatives in a significant step toward strengthening educational cooperation in the Islamic world.
The online session brought together Prof Dr Razia Sultana, Vice Chancellor of WUM and Dr Abdelilah Kadili, President of the Tamkin Foundation, to deliberate on potential joint ventures between the two institutions. Both leaders highlighted the strengths of their respective nations and exchanged ideas for promoting academic excellence and women’s empowerment across the Muslim world.
The dialogue focused on launching joint research projects, academic conferences, capacity-building workshops, and educational exchange programs under the WUM-Tamkin partnership umbrella. Discussions also touched on signing a Letter of Intent (LoI) to formalize future collaborations.
“Education is the most powerful tool for women’s empowerment,” Dr Razia Sultana asserted during the meeting. “It enables women to achieve economic independence and empowers them to contribute meaningfully to decision-making processes, fostering peaceful and inclusive societies.”
She praised the resilience and potential of Pakistani women and stressed the need to provide them with global exposure to enhance their capabilities and recognize their contributions on international platforms. She announced plans to increase national and international academic opportunities for WUM faculty and students.
To streamline the process, Haleema Ikram, Director of the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) at WUM, was appointed as the focal person for leading further talks with the Tamkin Foundation.
The partnership signals a promising future for cross-border educational collaboration focused on inclusive growth and gender equality in higher education.
