ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Aug, 2024) Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar Sunday said Youm-e-Istehsal reminded of the unilateral and illegal actions which India took on August 5, 2019 regarding Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement, he said India's actions were totally against the United Nations resolutions, charter of human rights and international agreements especially the 4th Geneva convention.
According to the international laws any steps which were taken by India by amending its constitution could not decide the future of people of Jammu and Kashmir, he pointed out.
He said the relations between people of Pakistan and Kashmir were centuries old and they were bound by unbreakable bonds of history, geography and religion and shared their joys and sorrows.
He said people of Pakistan could not disassociate themselves from the situation in Occupied Kashmir.
Pakistan was the main party to the dispute of Jammu and Kashmir along with India and people of Kashmir and in this situation, India could not impose any decision without acceptance by Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir, he stressed.
He said people from all sections of society and all institutions of the state in Pakistan stood shoulder to shoulder with the brothers and sisters of Kashmir.
Pakistan always represented the true feelings of Kashmiris and would continue to do so, Dar said adding Pakistan would continue to extend diplomatic, moral and political support to Kashmiris till the issue was resolved according to the United Nations Security Council resolutions and aspirations of the people of Kashmir.
He said if India claimed to be the biggest democracy of the world, it should give Kashmiris the democratic right to decide their own future and should stop the human rights violations and oppression in the Illegally Occupied Kashmir.
India should restore basic rights and freedoms of Kashmiris and should release all political prisoners in the Occupied valley, he urged adding India should revoke all steps that it took after August 5, 2019 to change demographics and alter the political map of the disputed region.
He said India should give access to international media and human rights organizations to Occupied Kashmir so that they could review the situation.
