Young Pakistani scientist's discovery in aquaculture genetics

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -6th Sept,2016) : Dr. Muhammad Younis Laghari, in its post doctoral research in China, has identified important molecular markers related to fish genetics which would lead to promotion of aquaculture sciences in future.

The university spokesman informed here Tuesday that Dr. Muhammad Younis Laghari, Associate Professor Department of Freshwater Biology and Fisheries University of Sindh Jamshoro, is the youngest scientist who got the opportunity of postdoctoral studies at an early stage of his career and he has completed his postdoctoral from the Institute of Hydrobiology Chinese academy of Sciences China.

Dr. Laghari has identified some molecular markers related to sex in the common carp fish, the spokesman informed and added that it is the most important identification of such markers and is great discovery in the field of fish genetics.

These markers will serve as a stimulus in sex gene in the fisheries research, he said and added that it would lead to promotion of aquaculture science in future. Dr. Laghari has also made international research collaboration with the Academy of Sciences Beijing for developing genetic assets of Pakistan commercial fishes, the spokesman informed.
