MULTAN, Jan 5, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 05th Jan, 2017 ) : Terming former prime minister and PPP founder leader Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's philosophy need of the hour, former Punjab governor Makhdoom Ahmad Mehmood said that he made the country an atomic power.
He said that it was none other than ZA Bhutto who gave masses right to vote in addition to 1973 Constitution. Speaking at a crowded press conference at Gilani House here on Thursday, the PPP South Punjab president said that sacrifices rendered by ZAB and slain prime minister Benazir Bhutto for the cause of democracy would not go in vain.
Mehmood said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto was carrying forward the philosophy of his maternal grandfather and mother.
He has strengthened the party, added the ex-governor. Mehmood said that a Bilawal House would be constructed in the city soon which would be a centre of party's activities in south Punjab.
Replying a question, he alleged that some people spent Rs 400 million for defeating the PPP in local government polls in Rahim Yar Khan. Altaf Khokhar, Natasha Daultana, Shaukat Basra, Khwaja Rizwan Alam, Mrs BA Jigar, Rao Sajid and others attended the meeting. Later on, the cake-cutting ceremony on ZAB's 89th birth anniversary was also held.
