Zulfi Catches PM's Applause For Labour-centric Endeavours

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Dec, 2018 ) :Where Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan appeared satisfied from the first 100-day performance of his cabinet's members, at the same time Special Assistant to PM on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Syed Zulfikar Abbas Bukhari managed to receive appreciation from the country's Chief Executive on his labour-centric projects.
The Prime Minister lauded Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development especially for its poor-labour and outgoing manpower related initiatives."Abolishing of National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) for intending emigrants abroad and establishment of biometric verification system at regional offices are two major projects commended by the Prime Minister," the Special Assistant said.
The Prime Minister had assigned the task to his Ministry to ensure timely completion of digital challenger bank, aimed to provide incentives to the Pakistani expatriates and directed to strictly adhere with austerity drive in coming days of the government, he added.
The Special Assistant apprised the PM over various measures taken by the Ministry in first 100-day to facilitate Pakistani expatriates.
In the last night meeting to review the performance of remaining ten ministries, the Ministry presented its report on 100-day work to the PM with a number of initiatives including digitalization of its attached departments, abolishing of NICOP, opening of Qatar visa facilitation center and launching of Naya Pakistan Calling Portal.
"The Ministry takes lead in implementing Prime Minister's 100-day reformative agenda to ensure quick redressal of issues pertaining to expatriates and their children by achieving almost all set targets," said Zulfikar Bukhari.
Highlighting his Ministry's achievements in the last 100 days, the Special Assistant briefed the PM that the Ministry has introduced major reforms to bring revolutionary changes in public service. He said the recently installed Call Serzameen, emigrants biometric verification system, Naya Pakistan Calling and e-governance System, establishment of Qatar Visa facilitation center and strengthening of banking channels were the major initiatives by his Ministry.
He said they were also working to enhance the amount of pension for pensioners of Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) from Rs 5,250 to 6,500. Besides, the Ministry had also abolished NICOP for outgoing manpower.
The Ministry's digital 24/7 complainant cell 'Call Sarzameen' in its office to quickly address the forwarded complaints of expatriates pertaining to the Ministry, was another hallmark achieved by his Ministry, he apprised the meeting.
Naya Pakistan Calling would provide a gateway to the professional Pakistani diaspora to share their prowess and experiences for national development, Zulfikar Bukhari informed the PM.
Currently, he said each Intending emigrant at the respective Protectorate of Emigrants Office was being verified/registered through emigrants biometric verification system, adding, "It will provide the Ministry a database to access complete and accurate information of outgoing Emigrants and Licensed Overseas Employment Promoters (OEP). The official website of the Ministry was also overhauled to ensure better communication among concerned stakeholders and to public its performance."
