Hareem Farooq corrects Fawad Chaudhry for ‘Parchi’ being first film to be screened in Saudi Arabia  

The actress was however happy to see Pakistani cinema flourish.

Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 8th October, 2018) Actress Hareem Farooq has corrected Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry over his announcement that Parwaaz Hai Junoon will be the first Pakistani movie to be screened in Saudi Arabia.

Responding to the tweet of the information minister, Hareem said that her film ‘Parchi’ was actually the first Pakistani movie to commercially release in Saudia Arabia in January this year.

The actress was however happy to see Pakistani cinema flourish.

“With all due respect sir, just want to let u know that our film #Parchi was actually the 1st Pakistani film to commercially release in #Saudia in Jan 2018. Nonetheless it makes me extremely happy to see our cinema flourishing! Congrats to #phj 👏🏻😃@Irkfilms @ImranRazaKazmi1” she wrote.

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry had announced on his Twitter account on Friday that recently released Pakistani movie Parwaaz Hai Junoon will be the first movie to be screened in Saudi Arabia.

Taking to Twitter, the information minister announced that Parwaaz Hai Junoon will be screened in Saudi Arabia on October 11, becoming the first Pakistani commercial movie to be screened in the kingdom.

The minister added that more of Pakistani movies will be screened around the world in coming months.

“Pakistani movie “Perwaz Hai Janoon” ll be first Pak commercial movie to be screened in #SaudiArabia on 11th October, more films and more screenings around the word in coming months Inshallah #MOIB” he wrote.

The announcement came days after Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed an agreement to air each other’s content. According to the memorandum finalised between Fawad Chaudhry and his Saudi counterpart Dr Awad bin Saleh, Pakistani movies and dramas will be screened in Saudi Arabia and vice versa.
