Mehwish Hayat Clarifies Benazir’s Biopic Won’t Be Made Without Family’s Consent

Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 23rd June, 2018) Actress Mehwish Hayat has clarified that Benazir Bhutto’s biopic will not be made without the consent of her family.
Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari was certainly not happy when Mehwish Hayat hinted in a post to playing Benazir’s role in an upcoming project.
Benazir’s daughter had said that she will take a legal action against making Benazir’s biopic without the family’s consent.
“Certainly no consent from her living heirs/children was sought. Absolutely unacceptable and we will be taking action against it,” Bakhtawar said in her tweet.
Responding to this tweet, Mehwish clarified that the project is in its very early stages and it would not be completed without the consent of Benazir’s family.
“To clarify rumours circulating. There is a project at the very early stages of development about your amazing mother. This cannot and will not be done without the consent or blessing of the family. I am sure that the team involved will be in touch before they progress further,” Mehwish said.
“Meanwhile, as an actress I am researching as much as I can about a real idol of mine.
Irrespective of any film I would love to meet someday and learn more about her, the actress added.
Mehwish Hayat took to Instagram on Thursday and shared her feelings on the occasion of Benazir’s birthday and said it is an ideal time to reflect on her undoubted achievements.
The actress hinted towards playing Benazir Bhutto’s role in a biopic as she said she is privileged to have been given the opportunity to research and learn more about her life.
Mehwish said that she looks forward to giving life to Benazir Bhutto’s story soon.
“I am privileged to have been given the opportunity to research and learn more about her life and sitting here I can only reflect on so much more that could have been had she not lost her life so tragically. The sign of a true leader is the legacy they leave behind and the reverence with which the people remember her irrespective of party allegiances. She was a truly remarkable woman and I look forward to giving life to her story soon,” she said.
The actress wrote this as she shared her picture holding a book on Benazir Bhutto and reflecting over her life.
