#Metoo Wave: After Ali Zafar, Abrar-ul-Haq Accused Of Sexual Harassment

One Twitter user shares that Abrar exploited her cousin sexually through constant promises of marrying her

Karachi (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2018) After famous singer Ali Zafar was accused of sexual harassment by fellow singer Meesha Shafi, Abrar-ul-Haq has also been accused now by a female on social media.

A Twitter user on April 13 said, “I remember the nearly 30-year-old Abrar ul Haq dating my friend when she was 16. He exploited her sexually through constant promises of marriage.”

The tweet received a mix response. Some said why the issue is being brought up now and why is she speaking over it while her friend remained silent. Some other people said that such people should be exposed so they cannot exploit others.

Pakistan’s renowned actress, model and singer Meesha Shafi accused fellow singer Ali Zafar of sexual harassment on micro-blogging website Twitter on Thursday, sparking a new debate in the country.

In her tweet on Thursday, Meesha Shafi said, “I have been subjected, on more than one occasion, to sexual harassment of physical nature at the hands of a colleague from my industry: Ali Zafar.”

Meesha said that she is sharing this because she believes that by speaking out about her own experience of sexual harassment, she will break the culture of silence that permeates through our society.

Ali Zafar, however, denied the accusations saying that he will take the matter to the court.
