Qawwal Groups Enthrall Audience At Pakistan National Council Of The Arts

Qawwal groups enthralled the audience of twin cities here late Wednesday featuring unique expressions of Qawali at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) as part of the ongoing National Music Festival
Featuring unique expressions of Qawali, the Qawwal groups including Ustad Joji Ali Khan, Shazad Santoo Khan and Nadeem Jameel and the Qawwal performed for providing an opportunity to the audience and entertainment lovers to enjoy the melodious expressions of Qawwali.
The festival includes seven musical nights focusing on different genres of music including Classical, Folk, Pop, Qawwali, Sufi, Ghazal and Contemporary musical nights etc. The event has been arranged by PNCA and Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage to entertain islooites with performance of music maestros to promote and preserve traditional music of Pakistan.
The festival is segmented to all genres of music from across the country as every musical evening is entertaining the music lovers with all day festivity along with culinary and cultural stalls accompanied by folk music and folk dances outdoors.
The Qawwal parties lead by Qawwali Maestros, who are successfully carrying forward the mission of safeguarding the Qawwali traditions, focused on the message of love, peace and harmony through soft feelings of music.
Speaking about the show, Director General PNCA, Jamal Shah said Qawwali is the devotional music of Chishti Sufis who played a significant role in dissemination of the divine message of islam.
Qawwali music received international exposure through the work of Sabri Brothers in 1975, late Bakhshi Salamat, Aziz Mian and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, he said.
The Qawwals took the message of Sufis to all the corners of subcontinent through their traditional art of Qawwali. Qawwali is the traditional form of devotional song while the one who sings Qawali is called `Qawwal' who closely links his inspirations to the spiritual aspects.
The Qawwals mesmerized the audience with "Sufi Kalam" in melodious tunes through soul soothing verses of poetry and highlighted traditions and teachings of Sufi saints.
The show gave message of peace, love and harmony throughcombining expressions of the traditional musical heritage of thesubcontinent.
