Sonali Bendre Gets A Wig For Herself As She Battles Cancer

Says when I was testing out the wigs, I had a brief moment of self-doubt

Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 5th September, 2018) Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre, who revealed in July that she had been diagnosed with ‘high grade’ cancer, shared a picture of her ‘new look’ wearing her wig.

Sonali shared a video collage of her pictures along with an emotional note about wanting to look good despite the toll battling cancer has taken on her.

“Vanity is my favourite sin,” Sonali began her post by quoting Al Pacino.

“Well, it might not be my all-time favourite sin (that would be gluttony), but who doesn’t like looking good?” she continued.

“The way we look has a profound psychological impact on us... A little vanity here and there does no one any harm. It’s important to do what makes you happy, even if it’s something as simple as wearing a wig, bright red lipstick, high heels.... All that white noise doesn’t make a difference in the larger picture. No one can tell you what’s right or wrong for you.”

The actor added that she had some apprehensions about wearing a wig. “When I was testing out the wigs, I had a brief moment of self-doubt... ‘Am I vain for wanting to look good?’ As part of the entertainment industry, you’re always expected to look good.

.. Maybe that has been ingrained in me? But then I gave it a thought and I realized I like looking good for me. If I’m in the mood to wear a scarf, I will. If I want to walk around bald and free, I will. Only you know what would make you feel good, and what works best for you. So take every opportunity you can to #SwitchOnTheSunshine. #OneDayAtATime.”

Sonali ended her post by thanking Priyanka Chopra for connecting her with the amazing @bokheehair, who created her new look.

Sonali had on July 4 revealed about her diagnosis and said that she is taking the battle head on as she is getting her cancer treatment in New York.

As the actor shared the news on her social media handles, love and best wishes for her speedy recovery started pouring in from friends, fans and colleagues.

Sonali’s husband Goldie Behl later took to Twitter and informed that she is stable and following her treatment.

Sonali is famous for her roles in films like Hum Saath Saath Hain, Sarfarosh and Kal Ho Na Ho.
