One Twitter handle related Sania Mirza to Alia Bhatt’s role in Raazi for she is an Indian married to a Pakistani
Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Apr, 2018) The trailer of much anticipated Bollywood movie “Raazi” has been released. This Dharma Productions movie starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal is based on a true story of a young girl, who was sent to Pakistan in 1971, to source out any information she could, as war was becoming imminent between India and Pakistan. It is the journey of an ordinary Indian girl, in extraordinary circumstances as the trailer suggests:
The trailer indeed is impressive and the subject surrounding Pak-India relations has always been of keen interest to the audience. But whenever it comes to India and Pakistan, we cannot simply avoid controversy. This time around, none other than the wife of Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik was caught in a controversy when somebody on Twitter related Alia’s role to Sania Mirza for she is an Indian married to a Pakistani.
Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik’s marriage have always been in spotlight, one way or the other but Indians go a step ahead in targeting the couple. Sania, however, gave a strong reply to the tweet that said the movie “Raazi” is a biopic of Sania Mirza as she is an Indian girl married to a Pakistani man but still working for India.
Kudos to Sania Mirza for this strong reply as not everything relating to the two countries should be made controversial, particularly by targeting personal lives of celebrities and sportsmen. Pakistan loves this Indian bhabhi even more now.
