31st KP Snooker Championship Begins In City

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Nov, 2018 ) :The 31s edition of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Snooker Championship got under way here at Tay Tay Niak Snooker Club City Gulbahar on Sunday.
Former International Basketball Coach Muhammad Saeed was the chief guest on this occasion who formally inaugurated the Championship. Deputy Director Finance Amjad Iqbal, KP Snooker Association President Zulfiqar Ali Butt, officials, players and large number of game spectators were also present.
Speaking on this occasion, Zulfiqar Ali Butt lauded Directorate of sports KP for extending support in holding the Championship. He said they have organized the Championship in three different faces in which a total of 250 players took part. In the first phase KP Snooker Association organized Inter-Club Championship followed by Inter-District Championship and among them now a total of 36 players are taking part out of that 250 in the Divisional round.
Out of the Divisional round a total of 12 players would be short-listed to represent KP in the forthcoming National Snooker Championship. He also requested DG Sports Junaid Khan for the opening up of old snooker club inside Qayyum Sports Complex which has been closed since 2012 because of the rehabilitation of Qayyum Sports Complex building.
He said now work on Qayyum Sports Complex completed so the snooker academy should be re-opened so that the players associated with game could learn the game under qualified coaches.
He said the final of the Championship would be played on Nov 23, 2018 at 3.00 p.m. Former Sports Minister Syed Aqil Shah and Director General Sports Junaid Khan would grace the occasion as guests.
