Ten-man Adelaide United fought back from two goals and a man down to draw 2-2 with the Central Coast Mariners in Australia's A-League on Saturday
Sydney, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2018 ) :Ten-man Adelaide United fought back from two goals and a man down to draw 2-2 with the Central Coast Mariners in Australia's A-League on Saturday.
George Blackwood scored an equaliser in the 83rd minute after Adelaide played for 73 minutes with 10 men and chased a two-goal deficit to salvage a valuable point. Andrew Hoole scored off a free kick before Turkish defender Ersan Gulum was red-carded for bringing down Trent Buhagiar in a clear scoring position.
The Mariners went two goals up when Ryan Strain turned the ball into his own net from a Hoole corner in the 53rd minute. Jordan Elsey pulled a goal back with a header in the 62nd minute before Blackwood's equaliser.
Marco Kurz's Adelaide held onto fourth place behind runaway leaders Sydney FC, who did not play this weekend. Second-placed Newcastle Jets twice came from behind to snatch a point from Western Sydney in a 2-2 draw.
Former Wanderers skipper Nikolai Topor-Stanley conceded two penalties to his old club before Dimi Petratos and Andrew Nabbout scored with spectacular strikes. Roy Krishna was the returning Wellington Phoenix hero and Spaniard Diego Castro the Perth villain in a dramatic 2-1 win for the Phoenix in New Zealand.
Glory defender Shane Lowry scored an own-goal in stoppage time to hand Wellington just their fourth win of the season. Fijian international Krishna marked a brilliant return to action after missing three games while in an apparent contractual dispute.
Castro earned Perth a contentious penalty eight minutes from the end with the score at 1-1 but he made a feeble chip off the spot kick straight to goalkeeper Tando Velaphi. The situation was compounded when Lowry conceded an own goal to hand Phoenix the winner in stoppage time.
