All Pakistan Inter-University Men Volleyball Championship Begins In Peshawar

University of Central Punjab Lahore recorded opening day victory against Agha Khan University Karachi in the All Pakistan Inter-University Men Volleyball Championship which got under way here at PSB Coaching Center on Wednesday.
PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Feb, 2018 ) :University of Central Punjab Lahore recorded opening day victory against Agha Khan University Karachi in the All Pakistan Inter-University Men Volleyball Championship which got under way here at PSB Coaching Center on Wednesday.
Vice Chancellor Sarhad University of Information Technology Peshawar Professor Dr Salim-Ur-Rehman was the chief guest on this occasion and formally inaugurated the Championship in which a record 14-team from various Universities from across Pakistan are taking part.
Dr Waheed Mughal, Dean Faculty of Sciences, officials from various teams, players and a good number of spectators were also present. In the opening match Agha Khan University failed to click in front of strong University of Central Punjab in the marathon three sets battle, the score was 25-22, 25-20 and 25-23.
University of Central Punjab did not give much time to Agha Khan University to come back and thus marched into victory. The players of Central Punjab showered superb spikings at the net and succeeded in breaking the block at net.
Agha Khan University Karachi did some resistance in all the three sets but overall University of Central Punjab dominated the proceedings. Teams from Punjab University, Hamdard University Karachi, Quetta University Balochistan, University of Science and Technology Bannu, Agha Khan University Karachi, University of Central Punjab, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Gomal University Dera Ismail Khan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir University Muzaffarabad, Bahauddin Zikria University Multan, University of Peshawar, Poonch University Rawalakot, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Superior University Lahore are taking part in the Championship.
Earlier, the opening ceremony was started with the recitation from Holy Quran by former national athlete Khurshid Marwat, followed by National Anthem. All the teams took part in the March Past, followed by the address of the Vice Chancellor Professor Dr.
Salim Ur Rehman. Speaking on this occasion, Professor Dr Salim-Ur-Rehman assured the players that all-out resources would be utilized in providing and ensuring due facilities to the players. He said the University is very keen to organize more and more supporting activities under the kind guidance of Higher education Commissioner.
He said sports teaches us tolerance and is vital for character building as a healthy mind resides in healthy body. He also thanked Director Sports PSB Coaching Center Mumtaz Ahmad Nadeem, officials of the Pakistan Volleyball Federation for extending all-out cooperation to the management of the Directorate of Sports Sarhad University of Information Technology.
