Aqeel Enters Into 36th Chief Of The Air Staff Tennis Championship Q-finals

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2017 ) : International tennis star and Pakistan's most Davis Aqeel Khan entered into the quarter-finals after recording pre-quarter-finals victory against Farhan Ullah in the ongoing 36th Chief of the Air Staff Khyber Open Tennis Championship being played here at PAF Officer Mess Courts on Saturday.
The match was started on a slow note and Farhan Ullah played some excellent tennis including perfect serve and smashes. Aqeel Khan after controlling the whole trend by showering his forceful smashes and marched into victory at 6-2 and 6-3.
The match between Mudassir and Barkat Ullah was interrupted by heavy rain wherein Musaddir got the first set by 6-3 and was in the leading 3-1 when rain stopped the play. The unfinished matches will be played on Sunday, chief referee Irfan Ullah told APP.
He said due to heavy rain, there were unfinished matches of the Under-14 and Under-18 as well which will be played on Sunday morning. In the other matches 3rd seeded Yasir Khan defeated Abdal Haider in a thrilling three sets battle, the score was 3-6, 6-3 and 6-4.
Both Yasir Khan, who is also defending the Championship in Men singles, and Abdal Haider played well and gave each other a tough fight. There were beautiful forceful smashes and cross-court smashes were also witnessed.
Yasir Khan have four ace serve, two in the first set won by Abdal Haider and one each in the second and third sets.
Yasir is great form but he faced tough time against Abdal Haider in the marathon three sets battle.
In the other pre-quarter-finals Usman Rafique beat Asad Ullah by 6-2 and 6-3 in a one-sided affair. Five seeded Shehzad Khan beat Ahamd Babar by 2-1, the score was 6-1, 6-2 and 6-3, four seeded Hira Ashiq beat Hassan Shoukat by 6-2 and 6-3, Muzamil faced tough resistance against Mian Bilal in the marathon match, the score was 7-5 (6-6), 5-7 (6-6) and 6-4.
The match lasted for two hourse and both Muzamil and Mian Bilal gave each other a tough fight with some beautiful forceful smashes were also witnessed. Second seed Muhammad Abid recorded victory against Shahid Afridi of PAF in straight sets, the score was 6-2 and 6-3.
In the Under-18 pre-quarter-final top seed Kashif Khan beat Bilal Kabeer by 2-1, the score was 6-3, 2-6 and 6-4, Hafiz Arbab beat Hassan Khan by 2-0, the score was 6-2 and 6-2. Muhammad Shoaib beat Muhammad Kashif by 2-0, the score was 6-3 and 6-3.
In the Under-14 pre-quartr-final Sami Zaib beat Haseeb Khan by 2-1, the score was 6-2, 3-6 and 6-4 in a thrilling match as both Sami and Haseeb played well. Kashan Umar beat Obaid Ullah by 2-0, the score was 6-2 and 6-2 and reached to the quarter-final.
