
Asad Ullah Wins KP Independence Day Squash Title

PESHAWAR,(APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Augst,2016) : Promising Asad Ullah clinched the trophy of the 69th Independence Day Squash Trophy after defeating second seed Noor Zaman in the final of the Under-13 category played here at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Wednesday. Sajjad Khan Nazim Nawa Killi was the chief guest on this occasion.
Member Executive Committee Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Squash Association Wazir Khan, Chief Referee Pakistan Squash Federation Munawar Zaman, officials, players and spectators were also present. The final of the Under-13 category provided great thrill as both Asad Ullah and Nor Zaman were stretched to five sets battle.
Noor Zaman won the first two sets by 10-12 and 9-11 but failed to click in the remaining sets won by a set Asad Ullah. Asad Ullah, lost the first two sets but when he settled down, he did not look behind and march into victory in the last three consecutive sets, the score was 11-8, 11-7 and 12-10.
In the Under-17 category of the Janshan-e-Azadi squash Haris Iqbal stunned Saif Ullah by 3-1 in another thrilling final, the score was 11-9, 10-12, 11-7 and 11-9. Both Haris Iqbal and Saif Ullah exhibited classic display of attacking shorts, nicks and drops and receiving thundering applauses from the sitting spectators. In the girls Under-13 category Maira Khan beat Eeman Khan in a hotly contestant encounter 3-2.
Maira Khan won the first set by 12-10 and failed to win the second won by Eeman Khan at 9-11. Maira again got the lead of winning the set 12-10 but Eemain Khan tied the sets tally by winning the fourth sets 8-11.
It was the fifth and decisive set in which Maira Khan beat Eeman Khan by 11-9 and thus marched into victory. At the end, the chief guest Nazim Nawa Killi Sajjad Khan gave away trophies and cash prizes.
