LOS ANGELES, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Aug, 2017 ) - Milwaukee Brewers minor league infielder Julio Mendez of Venezuela suffered a heart attack after he was hit in the chest by a pitch in a game on Saturday.

The Brewers said Sunday that the 20-year-old, who plays for their rookie club in the developmental Arizona League, was in a critical but stable condition.

"All of our thoughts and prayers are with Julio and his family," Brewers general manager David Stearns said in a statement.

"We will provide updates as soon as we know more." Mendez experienced a "cardiac event" after being struck on a ball thrown by Austin Krzeminksi of the Arizona League Angels in the top of the ninth inning in Tempe, Arizona. The game was immediately called off.
