Bastia stand closed after Lucas flag assault

PARIS, Sept 22, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -23rd Sep,2016) - Bastia have been hit with a partial stadium closure following trouble in the stands in their opening Ligue 1 match of the season against champions Paris Saint-Germain, the French league said Thursday.

The club were also fined 20,000 Euros ($22,400) after a fan hit PSG's Brazilian forward Lucas with the shaft of a flag while he waited to take a corner. Saturday's home game with Guingamp will be played without fans in the East Stand of the Armand-Cesari stadium in Corsica.

The referee had to stop the game for several minutes as Lucas writhed around on the ground holding his head, although he was quickly back on his feet.

PSG won the bad-tempered match 1-0 as there were several flare-ups between rival players.

"He touched my head, that's not normal but here it's normal," said Lucas about the incident. "Every time we play here it's like that, there aren't the right conditions to play. "We come for the three points but they're there to cause havoc." Bastia had accused Lucas of taking a dive.

"There was no blow, the player shouldn't have collapsed, we hope that play-acting will be punished," Bastia security director Antoine Agostini had said.
