Chess Federation's Election To Be Held In Next Month

ISLAMABAD, June 8 (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Jun, 2017 ) : The elections of Chess Federation of Pakistan (PSF) scheduled to be held on Saturday will now take place in next month. A spokesman of Pakistan Sports board Thursday said former Justice of Islamabad High Court, Muhammad Amjad Iqbal Qureshi, who is election commissioner for holding the elections, has announced to postpone the elections on the request of stakeholders due to the holy month of Ramazan.

He said the date for submission of nomination papers had been also been extended to June 10. The nomination papers will be scrutinized and elections will be held on July 8, at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad under the supervision of appointed election commissioner, he added.

The election commissioner has written letters to the provincial and regional sports boards to intimate the legitimate provincial and regional chess associations to finalize the electoral college for the elections.

It may be mentioned here that KP, FATA and Islamabad Sports Board have confirmed the Names of office-bearers of their respective chess associations. Besides affiliated departments including HEC, WAPDA, Railways, PIA and Service Sports Control Board have conveyed the names of their representatives for casting the votes in the chess elections.
