Civil Quarters Sr. Reach Peshawar District Inter-Club Hockey Final

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Oct, 2016 ) : Civil Quarters Senior advanced to the final after recording victory against Jinnah Cub in the first semi-final of the ongoing Peshawar District Inter-Club Hockey Championship being played here at Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium on Wednesday.

The match was started on slow not and till the end of the first 20-minute play none of the team could be able to score any goal as the ball was mostly confined to mid-field. It was in the 21st minute when Junaid slammed in a beautiful goal for the Civil Quarters Senior on the field attempt.

Soon after taking lead, Civil Quarters Senior put in more pressure and succeeded in doubling the lead through right winger Hamza on the field attempt. On the other hands after conceding two goals to nil, Jinnah club also managed their position by getting position of the ball and succeeded in reducing the margin in the 34th minute when Haroon netted a fine goal to make the tally 2-1.

At half-time Civil Quarters Seniors was leading by 2-1. It was the second session in which Civil Quarters Senior dominated the proceedings and did not allow Jinnah Club to strike back. Civil Quarters Seniors scored another goal in the 59th minute when inside right Said Shah scored a beautiful goal from the top of the D line.

Thus Civil Quarters Senior won the match by 3-1. Yasir islam (PIA) and Haroon Khan (PAF) supervised the match while Tehsil Ullah acted as field judge. Swat: In the Inter-Club Hockey Championship played at Swat three matches were decided.

In the first match Qambar Senior Club beat Eleven stars by 5-4 on penalty shoot-out battle before playing a goal-less draw. In the other matches Nawa Khali club beat Swat XI by solitary goal scored by Fazal-e-Haq, in the third match Islam Eleven beat Qambar Junior club by 2-0.

Kifayat Ullah and Mansoor were the scorers. Secretary District Hockey Association Swat Musa Khan, President Malik Wadan, Tournament Director Nasir Ali Khan were also present. A total of 19 clubs affiliated and three clubs with playing right are part of the DHA Swat Championship.

Kohat: In the Inter-Club Hockey Championship played at Kohat, Qazi XI club beat Gulshan XI by 2-0. District sports Officer Sikander Shah was the chief guest on this occasion. PHF Representative Manzoor Khan, Secretary District Hockey Association Kohat Muhammad Asif, other members of the association, players and spectators were also present. APP/ijz/ahn
