PALLEKELE, Sri Lanka, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th july,2016) - Rain and bad light delayed the start of the fifth and final day's play in the nail-biting first Test between Sri Lanka and Australia in Pallekele on Saturday. Australia were precariously placed at 83 for three at the close on day four, with the visitors needing another 185 to take the lead in the three-match series.
Skipper Steven Smith (26 not out) and Adam Voges (9 not out) were holding strong against an inspired Sri Lankan spin trio of Rangana Herath, Lakshan Sandakan and Dilruwan Perera who picked up a wicket each. Play was expected to start at 10:45 am (0515 GMT).
Inclement weather has disrupted play on all four days of the match which has seen a see-saw battle between the two sides.
