Dr. Shoukat Khan Challenge Football Cup To Start From Wednesday

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Augst,2016) : Dr. Shoukat Khan Challenge Football Cup will be commencing from today (Wednesday) at historical Tehmas Khan Football Stadium with 24 leading teams vie for the top honor. This was stated by Secretary KP Pakhtunkhwa Football Association and former national team skipper Basit Kamal while talking to APP here on Tuesday.
He said all arrangements in this connection have already been completed. Minister sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan will grace the occasion as chief guest. Director General Miss Rashida Ghaznavi, Director Operation Tariq Mehmood will also present during the inauguration ceremony. He said KP Police, Shinwari Club Landikotal, Dir, Swat have already been placed in the quarter-finals while the other 16 teams will play the knock-out round before qualifying for the quarter-finals. He said to pay rich tribute to Dr.
Shoukat Khan, a known surgeon, the Challenge Cup named after him. Basit Kamal said that Dr. Dr. Shoukat is providing all out support to the promotion of football in the province that is why they have decided to name after the Challenge Cup.
When contacted, Dr.
Shoukat Khan said that he has a long association with the game of football and he wants to promote it at all level. He said so far they have invited 24 leading teams from all across the province so that to bring back football activities to historical Tehmas Khan Football, which was in a poor condition. "We have work hard to make Tehmas Khan Football Stadium playable again and for this purpose from the last two month the tube well which is out of order, has been repaired with the cost of 50,000 and now it is working by watering the ground," he added. He said the grass has already been finished and the ground was giving a deserted look and was dusty but now after regular watering the condition of the ground has been improved so it to make it playable.
He said soon a national level tournament would be organized with top teams would be invited to participate. He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and specially FATA is full of football talent but due to no competitions these talented could not reaching at the national level. He said now efforts have been taken to organize maximum tournaments so that good talent could come up.
